How do I set up and use Apple / Google Wallet access?

Swiftlane lets you unlock doors with a secure Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass using your phone's NFC — a quick, convenient way to get in without opening the app. This article explains what you need, how to get the pass, and how to use it.

  • Apple Wallet — for iPhone (iOS) users

  • Google Wallet — for Android users

What are Apple & Google Wallet passes?

They're digital access passes stored in your phone's wallet. Once added, you simply hold your phone near the reader to unlock the door — no need to open the Swiftlane app or have an internet connection at the door.

What do I need to use Wallet access?

To use a Wallet pass, the following must be in place:

  • Your phone is running a recent OS version (not older than about 2 years).

  • On Android: NFC is turned on in your phone's settings (the pass can't communicate with the reader without it), and the Google Wallet app is installed and set as your default wallet.

  • Your building's entry is a SwiftReader X reader on a firmware version that supports Wallet, with the built-in Key Card Reader enabled by your property admin (shown below).

The built-in Key Card Reader must be enabled on the SwiftReader X access point (property admin setting).

SwiftVision Compact, Pro, and Max devices and ZKTeco card readers are coming soon. For now, Wallet access works on SwiftReader X readers.

How do I get Wallet access?

How you get Wallet access depends on your account setup:

  • Wallet Plan — If your building does not use Resident Billing, Wallet access is available as a separate, purchasable plan you can buy in the Swiftlane app.

  • Premium Plan — If your building uses Resident Billing, Wallet access is included as part of the Premium plan.

When you first open the app (or tap Add to Apple Wallet on your Profile page), you'll see a setup screen with product details and options to start a free trial, purchase a plan (monthly or annual), or choose Maybe Later.

The Wallet setup screen: plan benefits, monthly/annual pricing, and options to buy or start a free trial.

How much does it cost?

You can purchase the Wallet Plan on a monthly or annual basis. A discounted introductory rate applies for the first 15 days; standard pricing applies after that. The exact price is shown in the app at the time of purchase.

You can also start a free trial first to try the feature before subscribing.

How do I add the pass to my wallet?

Once your plan or trial is active, add the pass from your Profile page:

  • Open the Swiftlane app and go to your Profile page.

  • Tap Add to Apple Wallet (or Add to Google Wallet on Android).

  • Follow the prompts to add the pass to your phone's wallet.

On the Profile page: the Wallet Plan badge, the Add to Apple Wallet button, and the How To Use Apple Wallet and Manage Subscription menu items.

Adding the pass: tap Add Pass, wait while it provisions, and the pass is added to your Wallet (with Express Mode ready).

How do I use it to unlock the door?

Hold your phone near the SwiftReader X reader. On iPhone, with Express Mode enabled you don't even need to wake or unlock your phone — just tap. The door unlocks right away. Your key works on both iPhone and Apple Watch.

Using the pass: tap your iPhone (Express Mode needs no unlock) or your Apple Watch to the reader to unlock.

Tip: Make sure Express Mode is turned on for the Swiftlane pass in your Apple Wallet so you can tap without unlocking your phone.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

On your Profile page, open the Manage Subscription section. From there you can update or cancel your subscription at any time.

What happens when my trial ends?

If your trial ends and you do not purchase the plan, your Wallet Pass is automatically suspended. The pass will still appear in your wallet, but it will no longer unlock the doors.

You will not be charged automatically — a payment is only taken if you actively choose to purchase the plan. To restore access, simply purchase the plan from your Profile page, and your pass will be reactivated.

Troubleshooting: my Google Wallet pass isn't working

  • Confirm NFC is turned on in your phone's settings — without it, the pass can't communicate with the reader.

  • Confirm the Google Wallet app is installed on your phone.

  • Confirm Google Wallet is set as your default wallet. Some phones (for example, Samsung) set Samsung Wallet as the default, which stops the reader from picking up your Swiftlane pass automatically. In that case, open the Google Wallet app, open the Swiftlane pass, and present it to the reader.

Troubleshooting: my pass isn't unlocking the door

  • Make sure the Swiftlane pass has actually been added to your wallet (not just the app installed).

  • On iPhone, confirm Express Mode is enabled for the pass.

  • Confirm your subscription/trial is active (a suspended pass won't unlock doors).

  • Try removing and re-adding the pass from your Profile page.

  • If it still doesn't work, contact support (below) so we can check the reader on our end.
