Requirements
Before registering a reader, verify the following:
Site has already been created.
Access Point has already been configured.
Reader is installed and powered.
Reader is wired to the appropriate DCU.
Installer has Administrator or Operations permissions.
Swiftlane App is installed and logged in.
Bluetooth is enabled.
Installer is standing near the reader.
Registering a Reader
Step 1
Open the Swiftlane App.
Navigate to:
Profile → Swiftlane Z Series Readers
Step 2
Tap Swiftlane Z Series Readers.
Nearby readers will appear.
The list includes:
Step 3
Stand within Bluetooth range of the reader.
The app communicates with readers using Bluetooth.
Step 4
Select the correct reader.
If multiple readers appear, tap Ping / Beep.
The selected reader emits a long beep, allowing you to identify the correct physical device.
Step 5
Complete the registration information.
Required fields include:
Reader Name
Description
DCU Assignment
Wiegand Port
Site
Access Point
Optional fields:
Elevator Assignment
Floor Assignment
Step 6
Tap Register.
The reader is now assigned to the selected Access Point.
Verifying Registration
After registration:
Open the reader.
Tap Unlock.
A successful unlock confirms:
Note: The administrator performing registration must already have access to the selected Access Point.
Editing Reader Settings
Registered readers can be modified later.
Editable fields include:
Note: Configuration changes require Bluetooth connectivity. Remain within range of the reader.
Reader Location in Dashboard
Once registration is complete, the device appears under:
Admin Dashboard → Hardware → Key Card Readers
Firmware Updates
Firmware updates should only be performed when instructed by Swiftlane Operations or Engineering.
To update firmware:

Troubleshooting
Reader does not appear
Verify:
Bluetooth is enabled.
Reader has power.
Reader is within Bluetooth range.
Reader has not already been registered.
Wrong reader selected
Use Ping / Beep to identify the correct physical reader.
Unlock test fails
Verify:
Administrator has permission for the Access Point.
DCU mapping is correct.
Wiegand port matches the wiring.
Reader is powered and wired correctly.
Unable to edit reader
Configuration changes require Bluetooth.
Move closer to the reader and try again.
Best Practices
Create Sites and Access Points before arriving onsite.
Give readers meaningful names.
Perform an Unlock test immediately after registration.
Only update firmware when instructed by Engineering.
Use the Ping feature whenever multiple readers are nearby.
Additional Notes
Z Series Readers communicate via Bluetooth during registration.
Wiegand is the currently supported communication protocol.
OSDP compatibility will be introduced through a future firmware release.
The installer must have Administrator or Operations permissions to register or modify readers.
