Motion Detection Video Clips is a powerful paid add-on security feature for Swiftlane access control hardware. Using the built-in cameras on Swiftreader X and Swiftvision Compact / Pro / Max devices, the system automatically records 15-second video clips whenever motion is detected in front of the device.

Clips are securely stored in the cloud with 30-day retention and are instantly accessible from the Swiftlane dashboard's Activity Feed, appearing under a dedicated Access Type: Motion Detection.

If any access events (such as an unlock or denied entry) occur during a recording, the same clip is also linked to those events, giving you a seamless, unified timeline of activity and footage.

By default, motion detection on Swiftreader X and Swiftvision devices triggers video recording 24/7, until the daily limit of 300 clips per device is reached. For admins who want more control over when recording is active, Swiftlane allows you to map a custom schedule (see the Configuring a Recording Schedule section below).

A dedicated View Motion Detection Clips button has been added to the Activity Feed page. Clicking this button filters the feed to show only Motion Detection events, making it easy to browse all recorded clips in one place.

Property managers can configure active recording hours to cover nights and weekends. Any motion detected at entry points outside of business hours is automatically captured, providing visual evidence of unauthorized activity without the need for a separate CCTV system.

When someone follows an authorized person through a door, the motion detection clip captures the full scene. Admins can review footage linked to specific access events to identify tailgating incidents and take corrective action.

By default, motion detection recording runs 24/7 until the daily clip limit is reached. However, you can map a custom schedule so that recording occurs only during specific time windows. This helps you focus clip storage on the hours that matter most to your property.

High-traffic office lobby: Without a schedule, 300 clips may be consumed by midday with no coverage for evening hours. With a schedule, clips are reserved for after-hours when security risk is highest.

Residential building entrance: Without a schedule, clips fill up with routine daytime foot traffic. With a schedule, recording is focused on overnight hours when suspicious activity is more likely.

Warehouse loading dock: Without a schedule, continuous recording captures uneventful idle periods. With a schedule, recording is aligned to shift change windows and off-hours.

Once saved, motion detection video capture will only occur during the time windows defined in your schedule, instead of around the clock.
