Swiftlane allows users to unlock doors using NFC (Near Field Communication) via STiD Mobile Credentials/Keycards, providing fast, secure, and contactless access. This guide will walk you through what Mobile Keycards are, how they work, and how to set them up in your Swiftlane app.

What is a Mobile Keycard?

A Mobile Credential/Keycard is a digital STiD credential assigned to you by your building admin or Property Manager. Once downloaded and activated in your Swiftlane app, it enables NFC-based door unlock by simply tapping your phone near a compatible reader.

How to Download Your Mobile Keycard

To begin using NFC unlock, you must download your Mobile Keycard in the Swiftlane app and a STiD reader:

  1. Open the Swiftlane app

  2. Tap on your Profile

  3. Select Mobile Keycard

  4. Tap Download

Note: The keycard status should show as Ready for it to work properly.

Important Notes

  • Admins must assign the Mobile Keycard to your Profile before it can be downloaded.

  • Mobile Keycards are device-bound:

If you log in on a different device, the keycard will transfer and stop working on the previous one.

  • Only Swiftlane STiD Keycard Readers support NFC unlock – this feature is not available with Swiftreader X.

  • The Swiftlane app must have an active and valid Mobile Keycard in Ready status to function with NFC.

Why Can’t I Unlock with NFC?

If NFC isn’t working, check the following:

  • Have you downloaded the Mobile Keycard via the Swiftlane app?

  • Is the Mobile Keycard status showing Ready?

  • Has the admin assigned you a Mobile Keycard?

  • Are you using the correct type of reader (Keycard Reader, not Swiftreader X intercom)?

  • Are you using the same device you downloaded the keycard on?

For Admins: How to Check Mobile Keycard Assignment

To verify user credentials:

  • Go to Admin Dashboard > Hardware > Mobile Keycards

  • Check if the Mobile Keycard has been assigned and is in Activated or Ready status

Still Not Working?

If you’re still unable to use NFC unlock:

  • Reopen the app and check your keycard status

  • Log out and log back in to refresh credentials
